Even though the phone is certified to sustain complete submersions in water, Apple will apparently not entertain warranty complaints pertaining to water damage. The company's disclaimer reads "Liquid damage [is] not covered under warranty."
This basically means that should the water accidentally get through your phone's innards for no fault of yours, you will not get it repaired or serviced for free under warranty.
